Gary Birdsall, Jr., decided to become a financial planner after realizing work as a lawyer mostly involved assisting people with existing problems. He desired a more proactive role, where he could help people prepare before life happens. In his career as a financial advisor, he desired to bring comprehensive, holistic planning to his clients and attained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP®) designation to further his education and skills. As a Wealth Advisor with Hassell Wealth Management, he helps people prepare for both the expected and the unexpected while pursuing their financial and life goals.
Gary credits his diverse career background and legal training with his ability for issue spotting and problem solving. After graduating from law school, he helped found a primary-care health clinic and served as administrator for over five years, managing all aspects of the clinic except for direct patient care. The responsibility gave him first-hand knowledge in what it takes to start and grow a business. This experience complements his expertise in personal financial planning, succession planning, wills and estates, and risk mitigation.
Gary grew up in Cut Off, Louisiana, and is passionate about the people and culture of the Bayou Region. He and his wife, Kandice, a Houma native, now make Houma their home with children Gary III and Eleanor. Among his many interests, Gary is passionate about fishing the Gulf of Mexico and vegetable gardening. He particularly enjoys cooking “farm to table” style with his catches and produce for friends and family. He is also a big football fan and follows the Saints, LSU, and Nicholls State.
